Vladimir Abikh was born in Yekaterinburg, Russia. He got the education in the field of contemporary art (PRO ARTE Foundation, St. Petersburg) and film directing. He is a winner of the Sergey Kuryokhin Award (2019); an owner of Grand prix of the international portrait competition Portrait Now! (Denmark, 2015). Vladimir participated in the main programs of the digital art biennal Némo (France, Paris, 2019), the Triennal of Russian Contemporary Art at the Garage Museum (Moscow, 2020), the Ural Industrial Biennal of Contemporary Art (Yekaterinburg, 2015, 2017), the Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennal (Krasnoyarsk, 2013, 2015, 2017), and in many other international exhibitions and festivals. His works are in the collections of A4 Museum (Chengdu, China), the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA), the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum Center “Ploschad Mira” (Krasnoyarsk), the Museum of Underground (Yekaterinburg), the Museum of Street Art (St. Petersburg). Vladimir is engaged in teaching activity.
Vladimir Abikh works at the intersection of different media such as urban art, intervention, video, photography. In his works, the artist reflects on the time phenomenon and changes that are caused by faster information flows. He reveals the functioning of language and culture often in concise and ironic forms. As the main artistic method, Vladimir accurately puts text into the environment or turns it into a performative act.
